The Vietnamese take the ‘don’t drink alone’ adage quite literally. If you take a sip, everyone takes a sip. In fact, if anyone takes a sip, everyone takes a sip. And not quietly, but by clinking the glasses and screaming: Mot Hai Ba (1 2 3) YO! Or, after a while, just YO!

This means you either drink really slowly (you can’t always be the one initiating the cheer, so you have to wait until someone else is thirsty) or very quickly.

I quite like the idea, but after a while (imagine: Every. Sip.) it gets a little tiring.
