There are many, many things I like about Vietnam. There are also many things that surprise me in Vietnam – which is a good thing, otherwise this blog would be rather empty.

There are not so many things I find incredibly stupid, but children without helmets on bikes is definitely one of them. Helmets for adults are mandatory and, with a few exceptions, are worn by everyone. Helmets for children under 12 are not mandatory (what the fuck?) and (so) very few wear them.

To me, this is completely absurd.

Slowly, slowly the government is telling its citizen to give helmets to their children. But really guys, hurry!

(A while ago, Dali and I created a helmet campaign for a brand – unfortunately, it was never realised.)
