Saigon is booming into the sky. Everywhere you look, new apartment buildings, shopping mails and business centers are being built. But quite a few of the constructions, even right in the heart in the city, stop half-way through. For years, these skeletons ‘pollute’ the skyline.  I’ll spare you the details (also: I don’t know all of them), but it always comes down to a lack of money. Of course.

To me, these half finished ghost buildings (although the Vietnamese would never call them that, even mentioning the word ‘ghost’ brings bad luck) are a welcome change in the skyline . I feel there’s a more interesting story behind them (even if it’s only in my head) than behind the umpteenth shiny new complex.
